The Swiss have lifted rules restricting home ownership for a new $2 billion ski resort development at Andermatt, former home to an army base. Billionaire Egyptian developer Samih Sawiris is building 800 residences, with prices up to $64 billion each. Sawiris is looking to create "a true international experience" with a global group of buyers. Foreigners normally have to go through a lengthy approval process before buying property in Switzerland, but the Andermatt project is exempt, in an effort by the government to stimulate economic activity in the area following the army base closing.
