Brazil's economy grew 0.6% in the third quarter, according its national statistics agency today, about half the rate expected by most economists and Brazil's finance minister Guido Mantega. Two days ago, Mantega told reporters that economy had probably expanded between 1% and 1.3%, compared the previous quarter. The data is also more disappointing given government stimulus efforts to inspire investment. At this rate, Brazil – the slowest growing economy of the BRIC bloc that includes Russia, India and China – will have trouble meeting its goal of 4% growth in 2013.
