The challenge

The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys had always harboured ambitions for growth. Gary Frank and his team wanted to double the company’s turnover within three to five years, but didn’t know how to put their plans into action. They also needed to ensure they had the right culture in place to enable staff to embrace change and engage with a new ideology.

The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys met with Growth Manager Wendy Tindsley, who took them through the bespoke GROWTHmapper process, an online tool that covers the key aspects of successful business growth. Wendy helped to identify the key ingredients for successful growth and the coach most suited to the company’s needs.

Next, Johnnie Seidler was brought on board as the Growth Coach. He conducted a series of initial meetings, got to know the team and implemented a range of measures, including:

  • A two-day workshop for senior management to help translate the company’s ‘big ideas’ into everyday actions
  • An ‘Orbit Diagram’ assessment of The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys ambitions and strategies, designed to highlight the short-term measures required to achieve long-term success
  • Cultural ‘buy-in’ from senior management, with firm commitments to filter vision and change throughout the organisation
  • Identification of key activities required within sales, operations, new products, and marketing

Progress and outcomes

Taking a future-focused approach, the team now know what they need to be doing every six months in order to realise their goals.

The process has also fostered a sense of staff ownership over company strategy, with everyone involved in fleshing out the bigger picture and plans for growth. This has become a powerful and motivating tool within the business.

And through clear internal communication, senior management have enabled all members of staff to understand what the company is trying to achieve.
