Paul Manafort, the one-time head of Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential effort, and former Trump campaign aide Richard Gates have been indicted by a federal grand jury on a litany of charges, according to records unsealed this morning (Oct. 30).
The indictment contains 12 counts, including accusations of conspiracy to launder money, being an unregistered agent of a foreign principal and making false and misleading Foreign Agents Registration Unit (FARA) statements.
Manafort and Gates are the first to be charged in the federal investigation into Russian meddling in the US election.
