There’s one section of the book industry that’s not doing too bad. But these books are not siting on your bookshelf, they’re are on your coffee table. “Kindles and iPads just can’t compete with the experience of vast color photos, thick paper and sturdy binding” of the coffee table book, write Marketplace. Private equity billionaire and art patron Leon Black seemed to understand this when he recently bought the London publisher Phaidon, which produces visual art and design books.
