While depreciating currencies around the globe have given rise to fears of “currency wars,” the loose-money strategies of central banks in Japan and the United States won’t get anyone killed: Attempts to boost domestic growth aren’t a beggar-thy-neighbor strategy, but also help trading partners. The only real question is whether the European Central Bank will get in on the action, using easier policy to fight recession and ease the Euro’s rise.
