As the series of seemingly coordinated shootings and explosions unfolds in Paris, Facebook has launched a tool to let those who are in the city alert friends and family members that they are safe through its 1.5-billion-strong network.

The Facebook Safety Check tool can be located here. Facebook says on its site that it’s to “Quickly find and connect with friends in the area. Mark them safe if you know they’re OK.”

Facebook appears to be automatically asking users in the Paris areas to check in, and alerting their friends through notifications. If you have location tracking turned off on Facebook, click here to check in.
