David Bowie released “Space Oddity” in 1969, less than a week before the launch of the Apollo 11 mission. It would become his first hit. But as this video shows, it was also the blueprint for an obsession that marked his entire career. David Bowie was fascinated by the wonder, mystery and terror of space.
