David Yanofsky is the editor of the Things team, Quartz's cohort of journalists who use non-traditional means to originate and execute their stories. He was a founding member of Quartz's newsroom. As a reporter, he created data driven and visual stories. He uses the principles of design and the power of development to reveal stories that would otherwise go unnoticed. A self taught practitioner of Javascript, Processing, Python, and R he previously worked for Bloomberg creating interactive stories for its web sites, television stations, radio broadcasts, and magazines. Prior to Bloomberg he was a freelance graphic designer, screen printer, and book maker. He is the initiator of the Chartbuilder project and recently won his lawsuit against the US government.
