Rep. Bettie Cook Scott should resign. Her comments about her opponent, Rep. Stephanie Chang, are disgusting and despicable. I’m astounded a woman of color has been so disrespectful to another minority. I’m convinced Hell is full and the dead are walking the earth. We need to accept (not tolerate, accept) each other and treat each other better. I desperately need a lifeline. This world breaks my heart.

Turning non-whites against each other has long been a tactic of the powerful who want to stay powerful.

Should Bettie Cook resign? If she made the comments, of course she should. More importantly, she should confirm and apologize. But the issue here is much larger than a race in Michigan and it would behoove us all to remember that.

I can’t stand bigotry and racism alone, but it also infuriates me more when it comes from African Americans, who verbally assaulting another.

    She should resign immediately.

Hmmmm... employed as public school teacher, police officer, and now is a state representative. She appears to be African- American, and her attributed comments have the odor of racism. All of her previous and current endeavors, after attaching the comments, make me sick. This obviously has a lot to do with her 11% performance in the primary. It may also shed light on the resultant of the 2016 election in Michigan as a whole. These feelings are everywhere in this country, and are simmering just below most of our perceptive societal radars. We have to wake up to this cliquishly acceptable thought and subsequent behavior.

  • I'd immediately question the intelligence of any candidates using this type of language - usually. These days Trump has made language like this a sort of dog whistle call to closet racists.
