  • Testifying is hard work. I did it for 2 days once in a corporate lawsuit and I found it very hard not to get tripped up, especially by an expert lawyer. Trump is right to be nervous. His questioners have a tremendous amount of information by this point and they will be able to go deep into detail. He’s at real risk.

  • Somewhere inside of Trump’s statements there’s a weird truthful logic. At the end of the day Donald you have lied so many times about this, you’re bound to be caught in a lie. You’d be a fool to submit to an interview with Mueller.

I am really ashamed to say this but if I were Trump i would not talk to Mueller or the anyone at the top of the FBI because he could wind up being accused of obstruction when no crime was ever committed in the first place. with the solid anti-Trump blitz since the election, things are ugly. you know what they said about Nixon: just because he was paranoid didn't mean they weren't out to get him.

  • Me thinks the lady doth protest too much. Ho hum this whole investigation has been dragged out systematically over the course of a year. It’s the old magicians hat trick and all the while conservative interest groups consolidate power.

As a lawyer I would never advise a client to voluntarily speak with the police, FBI, etc., unless negotiating a plea deal. Prosecutors seldom interview people they believe are innocent or don’t suspect, and often know so much more than the interviewee thinks. It’s so easy to get caught in a lie or to misremember something and be charged with lying to the FBI. Trump has nothing to gain and everything to lose by sitting down with Mueller for an interview.

Watergate investigation ran over 2 years. There were multiple Benghazi investigations over multiple years - which produced nothing. I think potential conspiracy to aid a foreign power in affecting a presidential election is worth at least the time those two took - especially given the 30+ people already indicted, the multiple people who have pled guilty to lying to investigators, and the one guy who already went to jail.

Compared to what the US taxpayer has laid out for the President’s constant

Compared to what the US taxpayer has laid out for the President’s constant trips to his golf resort - already over 50% of the trips Obama took in 8 years - this is not WASTED at all. I think protecting our democracy - even if it does turn out not to directly implicate the President - is money well spent.

He should be worried. He’s never been able to get his story straight.
