When has this White House or this President not been in “meltdown” mode? This tabloidesque tizzy, this paranoid fever dream visited upon our entire great nation, is fundamentally distracting from our collective ability to address pressing 21st-century problems: extreme climate, worker displacement, a rising China with a very different approach to governing its people. We need to de-Trumpify and elevate our politics and national discourse if we’re to win the future.

You know, when I decided to join News Picks, I made a choice to do something new. I’ve always had strong feelings about what I believe and how I think this country should be run, but I never said things as publicly as this platform allows. One post was even taken down by the editors! OK, that’s fine - they, like everybody else have rules. I can live with that. But my NAME is on every post. I’m a big boy and can take the consequences, criticism, or adulation - whatever comes my way.

I cannot abide a coward. And I cannot stand their enablers.

  • First the Woodward book, now the anonymous resistance NY Times op-ed and it’s open season in the administration, straw that breaks the camels back? Will depend on who the source is and how Trump responds it seems.

  • Bush told us “Trump was a chaos candidate and will be a chaos president.” We are seeing this unfold more and more each week. This has been one of the most inept presidencies I’ve ever seen and most of the issues started by the administration itself. Imagine if and when he faces a real issue?
