  • I'm in. My next door gas station just launched a machine to make salads. Add in the steak and got everything I need for Friday dinner.

  • Josh Applestone is a nut but a visionary and endearing one. And he makes a lot of sense when you consider labor, last mile, and the necessary cost of sustainable meat.

  • When I read the headline, I winced a bit, it does seem off putting but only because we think of vending machines as holding candy and such things that can survive nuclear Armageddon. After reading the piece, I must say I’m almost tempted to try it.

  • I love it!!! I don’t really see it for anywhere except major metropolitan areas, but hey still an awesome idea. I do wonder about the machines and the operating costs and upkeep of such.

  • There is huge potential to do more with vending machines in the US—just look at Japan to see how creative you can get, from bread in a can to umbrellas to vegetables. For retailers, they're not only a way to move more product, but also a vehicle for more (cheap) brand advertising.

    Why do we need to

Why do we need to restrict ourselves to chips and drinks? The steak idea is really clever.

  • Everything is impossible until it’s not. Kudos to this guy for innovating, not asking permission, and making it work.

  • Vending Machines vary in function from one place to another, and in Asia, vending machines, do more than dispense you candy and coffee. Sony even sells electronics via vending machines, and others will carry your Groceries; with items like French bread -a Pineapple - a whole fresh or frozen Chicken

Right now, he is using his facilities. But if he wishes to expand, their are a few issues that can pose high problems, such as during a blackout, all the meat is now lost. Adding staff and vehicles to keep stocking the machines which is additional cost. He actually stands a much better chance by striking a deal with Uber to deliver the packages to peoples doorsteps.

  • How many people are so desperate to buy steak meat out of nowhere?

  • Hmm. Can’t say I would have ever imagined something like this.

  • Sounds like a good idea.
