  • Yes, we need a better mechanism for podcast discoverability! Along with a recommendation engine, would love a service that makes it easier to grab and share highlight clips from podcast episodes on social media. Audio-only content is amazingly hard to share

  • Podcasting is still missing a “newsstand”: a way for consumers to easily and effectively browse the best episodes. As opposed to subscribing/following to a series/host.

  • Love it! We need better resources to find good podcasts. It’d be great to have comments as well. Maybe in the new Quartz app does a podcasts section :)

  • This sounds quite similar to the recent collaboration Spotify did with Ancestry.com! They make a playlist for you of local music based off the proportion of ethnicities you come out as: https://www.google.com/amp/s/qz.com/quartzy/1399279/spotify-can-use-your-ancestry-dna-test-to-tell-your-musical-dna/amp/

  • Meh. I don't think folks are struggling with discovering podcasts. Rather there are so many other claims to our attention. I'd 👀 the growth in podcast listens on Echos and Google Homes as much more important. (And I totally get how Pandora can play into that)

  • I think this is a good step for pandora to evolve their platform—music discovery has become a bit of a crowded place and this gives them an added form of differentiation. Also, I’m always up for new podcasts!

  • Excited to see how they dive into this space. Podcast discoverability is basically non existent up to this point. There have been some awesome products in the space like Castbox (search the transcript of any podcast) and Overcast (smart speed + voice boost). Looking forward to a company with great recommendation

  • Podcasting is a niche industry. Those who listen often desire to learn or to entertain, but they have limited bandwidth to consume more content. Podcast recommendations, while interesting, are outside the scope of Pandora. Given Pandora’s decreasing app usage and user base, this is a business model expansion

  • Omg I so need this!

  • iTunes podcast UI is terrible, but there’s an app called Breaker that does a fine job of this and looks great.

  • the main issue with most podcast apps is not just discovery, but more like... flow?
