As TV's fall C3 ratings crumble, feel free to blame the millennials
Millennial viewing habits are not the cause. An antiquated product that has not evolved with changing technologies, business models, and consumer expectations is the cause.
Why would I spend time watching commercials during bad shows when I can be watching better content ad free?
Netflix and HBO invest in original content and it pays off. Better not let go of those live sports rights...
Don't blame the victims. TV content is terrible.
Feel free to blame discriminating viewers with good taste for the decline of network television.
They have got to reinvent the ad model. It’s just unbearable and what they don’t seem to realize is we have options now.
If there’s an original high quality network show worth watching (breaking bad for example) people will watch. If you look at the sheer number of detective, law enforcement, and special agency procedural dramas that exist on network tv it seems more reasonable to blame the lack of originality over everything else
The stand out concept of this piece is unmonetized screen time. Millennials.. and frankly all of us spend plenty of time in front of screens but the cost of our attention is rising and must be paid with compelling content that clearly is not being provided by the old school networks. But the game is still being played.. and it may evolve in ways we can’t yet imagine.. as they say .. stay tuned.
TV let itself be disrupted in the industry, instead of even attempting to be the disruptor. There’s no catching up now.
Loud music, 1/3 commercials on why these new great meds for a rash may kill me. I’d rather watch Brit crime drama series on Netflix. Only 2 MSM shows we watch.
The rest, waste of eye movement.
Ouch. This has been predicted for ages, so no surprise, but it does seem like a steep slope downwards.
I’m a boomer, and I don’t watch the networks. I’ve developed a rash from commercials, and the only cure is streaming.
How about bad content? Dumb plots, poor actors, laugh tracks, bad language and on an on.
Do old people like watching commercials?
