  • The issue is not Jim Acosta. Rephrasing. The issue should not be Acosta, about whom there is obviously mixed opinion.

The issue is whether any US President has the absolute right to take away a White House press pass because s/he doesn’t like the style, the questions, the stories and/or the personality

The issue is whether any US President has the absolute right to take away a White House press pass because s/he doesn’t like the style, the questions, the stories and/or the personality of a given reporter. If the answer is yes, that is chilling to me.

Any US president does have the absolute right to select which reporters he calls on for questions.

Over almost two years, President Trump has frequently called on Acosta. Perhaps The President likes the theater. Perhaps he likes the politics.

  • It's a Privilege and Not a RIGHT!!!

  • This shows checks and balances do still seem to work. That said, Jim Acosta and CNN have made themselves the news story which is never a good thing. If anyone can remember a scoop or story either has broken about the White House or any major issue in Washington in recent weeks, I would be shocked, however

If anyone can remember a scoop or story either has broken about the White House or any major issue in Washington in recent weeks, I would be shocked, however, we’ve all seen the heated exchange and know about the credential ban. Would be nice to get back to news.

  • Another socialist judge full of himself!

  • This is particularly interesting because the judge who ruled on the case was confirmed under President Trump. It will be worth watching the White House’s response to his decision.

  • Even if the White House is "the people's house", people who visit still must respect the honor of the Presidency & behave accordingly. I don't let rude people in my house. As a citizen, I don't want rude reporters visiting or demanding to be heard.

  • Captain Orange was overstepping his authority!!

  • It wasn't an issue of Acosta not being allowed to ask his questions. Instead Acosta insisted on making a speech. Then another, and another.

What about all of the other thousands of reporters who have never had access to the White House?

Why is Acosta better than them, "for now"?

  • Sorry, Donnie...you can't play dictator today

  • Does that mean every journalist can now demand a hard pass to access the White House? It's difficult when judges take political sides and don't follow the letter of the law

  • How can a federal judge rule who is allowed in the White House and on what grounds? They sure don’t have to allow him to ask questions Trump is not violating Acosta’s freedom of the press right. Freedom of the press does not allow him to control who can ask a question that judge should step down from the bench

  • This is a great victory for the freedom of the press. It is heartening to see news organizations from different ends of the political spectrum support each other on this. This issue is much bigger than Jim Acosta.

I only wish more members of the White House press pool would stick together, work as a team and keep doggedly asking the question or questions until they get an adequate answer. They are stronger together.

  • For those saying "you must respect the White House" you need to understand 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is OUR house, and as such the current resident we LET stay there MUST answer to WE THE PEOPLE, not the other way around. We are 100% entitled to this via a free press that can demand answers to our questions

We are 100% entitled to this via a free press that can demand answers to our questions. This house is different than the one you live in, because you alone are footing the bill. If someone is in MY house I paid for, best believe I wanna know what's really going on.

But let's be fair, y'all do remember that time Trump was a reality TV star right? Right??

  • President Trump will probably shut it down completely

  • The judge is classless as Acusa if you

go into the Whitehouse you have show respect

  • Hahahaha good try Dems. Not gonna happen

  • The absolutism of the president is something that is becoming more and more eminent which is indeed a terrifying prospect. This ruling is a huge victory for the freedom the press. It’s interesting to think about the root of the problem. Our country is becoming so polarized to the point that first amendment

  • No problem… Just let the idiot sit there and never call him for a question…!

  • It's a soft decision. No statement on First Amendment and White House is able to appeal. A decision made by a judge appointed by Trump who is part of the Federalist Society.

When the executive and the legislature don't work as they should, it's important to have the ability to trust the judiciary.

  • Good luck to assss Acosta getting to ever ask a question again. Classless jerk!

  • Ridiculous ruling! In this Judge opinion, White House Press Corps would HAVE to include absolutely every "reporter" on every Published rag in the United States! These Judges are legislating from the bench.. should be thrown off the Court.

  • It's a bad thing what the reporter did, but I don't think he should be banned idk...

  • It is the President show. He can do whatever he wants in his house. Also since Acosta struck an intern, there’s probable cause he might do something more violent. He is a security risk

  • 1st Amendment victory!

  • Yay!

  • The issues was ‘due process’ Jimmy will get due process next time.

  • Everyone who is saying just ignore Acosta and let him sit there, that won’t work. Even the Fox News reporter said that what the White House did was wrong and that he should be restored immediately. Everyone who is saying just ignore Acosta and let him sit there, that won’t work. Even the Fox News reporter said that what the White House did was wrong and that he should be restored immediately. If the WH ignored Acosta the rest of the WH Press Corp will side with him and will do everything in their power to harass and force POTUS or OPS to acknowledge Acosta.

  • It’s happening.

  • Acosta and Trump are both turds in my opinion.

  • Booyah!
