  • The non-profit journalism approach is innovative and interesting. But the other plans that give for profit corporations taxpayer money are flawed. Governments need to realize the people's money is entrusted to and does not belong to the government to give away to private entities as they wish.

  • Very exciting as a free press is of great value in Canada and many other countries. Clearly, the American founders understood its value by specifically offering protection in the US Constitution.

  • As the former CEO of a Communications Network and instructor at the New England School of Communication for television production. I find this premise to be very exciting. This makes me wish I was Canadian and more than that it makes me wish that the United States would wake up and smell the coffee.

  • If the govt is providing money then , by definition, it is not free & independent. Remember the Golden Rule: he who has the gold, makes the rules. Govt money means govt rules; just ask the public schools about federal funds.

  • It's crazy to see how much journalism jobs have dwindled without many people thinking about how we can kick the industry back into gear. Seeing Canada do something so profitable for journalism is inspiring. We need to become more innovative about journalism, but to do that, we need the time and the money

It's crazy to see how much journalism jobs have dwindled without many people thinking about how we can kick the industry back into gear. Seeing Canada do something so profitable for journalism is inspiring. We need to become more innovative about journalism, but to do that, we need the time and the money - neither can truly exist without the other. If the U.S. could follow a similar tax package (they won't, but wishful thinking, right?), we'd see greatness in "REAL" news all over again.

  • Trudeau is not supporting journalism with this money its a bid for control over media content and all indicators are that is going to work very well for the future of Trudeau’s Liberal Party..its an assault upon freedom of speech and balanced reporting!

  • Great initiative by the Canadian government to support journalism.
