  • Some excellent things in here including the foldable phone!

  • A good reminder that when we say “a terrible year for tech” we are talking about the old guard. Facebook, Google, Twitter, everyone who showed up on the Hill this year is practically a dinosaur (though Microsoft is surprisingly fit for its age).

New tech, the future in consumer, AI, Quantum computing, and gaming—these are technologies that will soar in 2019.

  • Good summary of all the tech areas we should be excited about in 2019. My pick include 5G, AI, Quantum Computing, AR and gaming. The user experience should be enhanced and, hopefully, we will all be more productive. Bring it on...

Two points in this article are intimately connected and will be massively important in 2019 - consequences for abuse of privacy and edge processing on the device to protect privacy. The biggest reason privacy-centered apps haven’t taken off is the lack of a technical solution that provides similar if not better experiences than those powered by centralized platforms designed to “down our data,” as the article so eloquently states. The mass awakening of privacy concerns and entirely new ways to build apps and share/process data directly on the device will change everything.

  • The WSJ believes 2019 will be a year when technology optimism will once again be justified. I hope they are right. Money quote: “when people can no longer separate the real world from the J.K. Rowling’s imaginary one, it could get nuts.”

  • 🧙‍♂️

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be the biggest mainstream AR application of 2019!

    Lumos!

  • Worth reading- interesting trends to watch though most are not a surprise. Of note: the retail experience as the industry takes the tech developments learned online and deploys them to the in store experience- giving us reason to do more shopping IRL- and maybe look up from our devices..

  • Technology is now becoming part of our lives. It’s going to be a major factor in education, health, transport, housing, food and everything else. We can no longer think of technology as a separate field but it is something that will impact everything.

  • Something about 2019!

  • Somehow I doubt « optimism that technology is really good for the world. » will return in 2019

  • Sorry not sorry to be a Debbie downer, but I see nothing good from all this technology boom. Mmmm less human interaction in stores, self driving cars, lets get even lazier why don’t we? Not to mention the privacy threats it will bring (actually already happening) monitoring your every move for data collection

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for medical advancements, but when your smart toaster is recording how and how often you eat your toast that’s the end of times for me and I’m young lmao I must be a old soul. At some point technology will be our downfall.

  • I'm hoping to see predictive analytics duke it out with ethics & national policy issues around privacy & monetization.

  • Worth a read, 5G is gonna have a major impact on the world once it’s been established

  • Happy New Year to all! Looking forward to greater efficiencies through tech this Year! Bring on readily available 5G, smart stores and expanded thoughtful use and blending of AI into the human work experience!

  • I see the baby steps to autonomous driving in my spouse’s 2019 Honda Accord and it is amazing. I now believe in the power it has to work with the driver (you have to keep contact with the steering wheel) to help prevent accidents. Bravo!

  • My picks for this post:

    - Self-Driving Vehicles Start Small

    Companies are more cautious now

    - AI Moves From Cloud to Cores

Faster action and less battery drain

    - Big Tech Targets Health Care

    Paperless health services and

    other patient care improvements

  • Sounds good!:)

  • Nice going on that
