Fury is the new drug that only seems free but is actually costly to physical, mental, and societal health. I have written about circumspection being a revolutionary response to a culture on fire but alas no one cared and the post did not go viral. It wasn’t infuriating enough.

  • I really could not care what the brainwashed spoiled children were there.

The whole thing was a slice of present day Americana.

The ignorance shown by these children should be a outrage to everyone.

The pathetic attempts to justify their behaviour is beyond pathetic!

    They did something morally apprehensible

They should be taught that this is wrong!

Thank you for this article. My social feed was full of my friends outraged and spewing hate for the students. I was more wary, and when I asked them to wait for more facts and more of the story, they saw me as the enemy. I learned that hate reactions are coming from the left leaners very quickly. At least my group of friends seem to react quickly and harshly. What has happened to debate? To innocent until guilty? It has completely disappeared. During the news cycle my friends who lean right keep quiet, not wanting to enter into the hate being thrown, and I must admit I feel the same way today.

The ability to debate is gone, and we are now left with angry snap judgements that will continue to define this year.

  • This, is a story about how a weak leader has influenced a strong movement of hatred. It is a very sad testament to what is happening everywhere in our country and in the world.

  • How does anyone today not realize where there is one video there is always going to be another showing a different view. It's just like the 2 key plays in Sunday's NFL games. The "other" camera showed a different view.

  • A picture is worth 1,000 words, yes, but interpreting them says more about the viewer’s worldview than the facts at hand.

  • Two quotes for people to remember when the internet hate mobs scream for “justice”:

“Everyone is brave behind a keyboard.”-my father

“If you fight with monsters, you should take care that you do not become one yourself.” -Friedrich Neitzche

  • I agree with the article that this incident fit well into the outrage machine that seems to be chugging along at full speed these days. And we would all do well to get more nuance and fact before reacting.

Having said that, this article was way too quick to skip over the fact that these kids were mocking the Native American gentleman. And it would be naive to think that they didn’t wear the MAGA hats to be deliberately provocative. What was on display there, and rubbing people the wrong way, was smug white privilege. Kids that never had to struggle or empathize with others. I also attend Catholic school and that’s the exact opposite of what we learned there.

I agree wholeheartedly that no one should be doxing this kid or his parents or making threats. But I don’t think he and his friends are completely exonerated by the videos either.

  • The children literally didn’t do anything. They just stood there. Nor reprehensible, not deplorable, totally ok.
