These were adults in medical school who, in 1984, had to know how racist, hurtful and unacceptable this is. Not only did they dress up and take pictures, they published it in a yearbook for God’s sake. I would say it may be hard for Northam to survive as Governor but the court of public opinion has been capricious in its verdicts on racial and gender matters in recent years. Northam’s remarks about an extremely controversial abortion bill in Virginia are unrelated but likely make things worse for him.

  • Disappointing news out of Virginia today that reopens wounds and history that I never expected from our Governor. Amazed it is only surfacing now, but very curious how this all plays out.

  • While people can evolve, there is no room for this kind of history in public service. Such a betrayal of all that is the spirit of fair and just leadership, even in one’s youth, is a stain on the character of Northam that cannot be removed. While there may be forgiveness from God, there is NO redemption

Such a betrayal of all that is the spirit of fair and just leadership, even in one’s youth, is a stain on the character of Northam that cannot be removed. While there may be forgiveness from God, there is NO redemption in accordance with standards of government leadership for persons who have ever participated in such flagrant, terroristic racism, EVER.

  • The Dems cannot afford forgiveness or tolerance in this case since they recently set the standard with the Kavanaugh judicial appointment. In that case, the only evidence was a lone accusation with zero overt or circumstantial evidence.

  • The Democratic Party, as always, linked to true racism.

  • He will get away with it because he is a Democrat.

  • Last night he apologized for being in the racist photo, but today says "It wasn't me".

    Governor Northam, I call Bullshit!

  • Thirty. Five. Years. Ago. Were you never young and foolish? Who are you today? Should we demonize you?

  • Let s/he who is without sin cast the first stone ...

  • Let a Governer without sin cast the first stone. Those who govern must be held to a higher standard.

I hope his cognitive dissonance collapses over the weekend and he can resign with dignity. He also presides over a legislature that recently voted on measures to honor

both Robert E. Lee and Jefferson

both Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis. Where was the Governor?

The trees in the South still continue to bear strange fruit.

  • If he is in medical school during this time, he should have known better. Your sins will find you out. I am a Democrat but the thing he should do is resign as our current president should resign.

  • We don't want to stone him. We want to end his career.

  • Well the headline is wrong, he clearly said he is not in the photo. He did say, he some black shoe polish on his face at a dance contest where he was dancing as Michael Jackson. Not excusing his actions just pointing out that the headline is false. I would like to see an investigation and then make a determination.

  • Reopens wounds? How can you reopen a wound that was never closed? This is no substitute for a real reckoning.

  • most of your comments run in the same vein as a racist remarks about democrats
