  • Democrats get the legislative victory, forcing Trump to accept less than what he was offered before the shutdown. Trump also got what he wanted: nearly two months of distraction that took headlines off of the Mattis resignation and Mueller investigation. The American people, particularly Federal employees, are the big losers.

  • I think he should have let it shut down. This happened once in Australia all the lawmakers were fired and replaced. We need term limits these people have forgotten who is accountable to whom, if they ever knew. AOC talks about her "inauguration" LOL I think she really thinks it was a coronation.

  • This speaks volumes about the underlying issue of the boarder wall debate. Trump had the opportunity to have a deal with more funds available, he wanted to play politics like the apprentice and ratings dropped. Now to keep his show on air he's settling for a lesser deal. The issue is ratings, boarder

The issue is ratings, boarder security is a secondary issue.

I would ask anyone that wants to defend his actions to stand back and view the situation from this point of view and if you still believe he made a good deal, tell me why.

  • Willfully refusing to acknowledge the fact that 85% of illegal drugs are entering through the southern border at points of entry shows how disingenuous this debate really is. If there were two leaks in my basement, one of which 85% of the water was coming in, which of the two leaks would demand my attention

If there were two leaks in my basement, one of which 85% of the water was coming in, which of the two leaks would demand my attention? IMHO the funds should be distributed proportionately, as per the assessments of Homeland Security, CBP, and DEA.

  • It speaks volumes that NONE of the lawmakers from the border states where this wall is supposed to go want it. There are other more effective solutions to solve this that would not have the environmental devastation and would have better economic impact

  • The border wall is needed, because it does serve as a deterent. Just ask any engineer that knows how to make a good barrier. I'm really befuddled by the disagreement on this issue. Given that, here's a proposition: Everyone that are against erecting barriers on the US border please keep your doors unlocked

The border wall is needed, because it does serve as a deterent. Just ask any engineer that knows how to make a good barrier. I'm really befuddled by the disagreement on this issue. Given that, here's a proposition: Everyone that are against erecting barriers on the US border please keep your doors unlocked, in fact, just take the outside doors off your house, apartment or your abode and put up and display a prominently located sign telling the readers to come right in, foods in the fridge, beds are warm, and they can stay as long as they want, because its free. As an added benefit, you'll pay for their healthcare, school for their children and no eork on their behalf is required. Oh, and btw, if they commit a crime or are criminals, that's okay, because you've just declared the place a sanctuary. Then, why you're thinking about what I just wrote: Consider the stats on overcrowded schools, that use trailers, because the census didn't account for unchecked immigration and the rising costs of healthcare, again, because unequitable payment, if any at all, is lacking through use my border migration, etc. Yes, there is a problem in our immigration system, but, it's NOT a trump problem: It's a WeThe People problem and until we face the fact that it is our problem and stop playing the political parties game of he said she said: The immigration problem will NEVER be satisfactorily dealt with on the appropriate social, humanitarian and economic levels. We myst hold oursekves accountable at the voting booths and hold all our political representatives, regardless of party or any party, accountable for the full terms they are serving us or we vote them out, not keep them in office, only to keep the vycle of nothing done continuing to spin nowhere fast or for that matter to spin into the dark whole abyss of complicity by ignorance, or at least, failure to act, as responsible citizenry.

  • All of this is silly....education is always the answer...

  • Term limits for Congressmen and Congresswomen, anyone? This “deal” was an intentional distraction that resulted in a unnecessary stressful time for many federal employees. Worse yet, our security wasn’t really improved, either.

  • He is a blustery clown that doesn't understand political brinkmanship. When the GOP had control of both houses of Congress, he was unable to make the wall happen. Several GOP Senators are up for re-election in 2020 and they have followed Trump to the ledge. They are without political cache and the shutdown

And oh yeah, Mueller and the subpoenas are calling.

  • If you ask me the dems are desperate they hate losing to Trump more than they love the country..they moved so far to the left that they hate just the sight of Trump.

They keep playing with words and confuse people. I never lose an argument against the maniacs on the left not because Im some kind of smarty

For starters the issue is not a "wall" that was just a way for Trump to make some people realize the importance of border security. Whatever Trump does is a bonus, next to the miriad of politicians who stand still and do nothing hes a breath of fresh air.

  • For those of you who say a wall is not needed are apparently just spouting what they’ve heard from the left. I challenge anyone who takes this position to explain exactly (step by step) how Border Patrol is supposed to apprehend anyone planning to cross the border BEFORE the person has crossed illegally

The fact that the Dems insisted that Detention Facilities be reduced while refusing to build a wall tells me they don’t want border security at all, not really. Otherwise, why would they insist on less than adequate facilities?
