The dirty secret behind "recycling." "For all the campaigns encouraging people to recycle more, few lay out exactly what happens to our recyclables once they go into the blue bin. Rather than our milk jugs magically reincarnating into toys on their own, for nearly three decades American recyclables were shipped cheaply to China, where they could be sold and given new shape." Then China said, "No more."

  • China held all the cards and we relied on them for too long that we had no contingency in place. We have the technology to efficiently recycle all this backlog that we have. We just need to implement it and do it right with no shortcuts.

Make it metal to recycle. At 3 bucks a set North America is a billion dollar market. No plastic, recycling is easy

We've previously discussed this story. China is no longer taking our recyclables so our whole recycle pipeline is backing up. Towns are having to pay more to recycle than to just haul it to the incinerator or landfill / dump. We need massive investment in high-volume recycle separation facilities and high-volume post-consumer product development in CONUS-located factories. We need the likes of Waste Management and International Paper to step in big time and make these industries a reality. I've already discussed how we need recycle offsets added to our retail pricing structures so that recycling offset fees are captured at the consumer front-end so that the recycle back-end has the credit offsets to make it a viable business.

  • Time to stop making One Time Use plastic products! Move from plastic to paper and metal.
