However the monthly cost of Hertz seems little on the high side

Subscriptions for car ownership is the future. By the minute billing for a car you own is coming. Being able to switch your car twice on a month long rental for $999 might seem expensive but you're also paying for the convenience to stop whenever you want. Remember, insuring a new driver in the US can be $650 a month without a car (price a 30year old friend was quoted last year in LA, she got the Volvo subscription, was the only logical move with the rates she was being quoted). The price will drop will come. But I'm waiting for package where you get a car delievred and you're using x out of xx days a month with unused days rolling over! It's coming! This is a great first step! I think most people saying it's too high are right, $750 would have been a sweet spot, but long term temporary car ownership is new. The price will drop.

  • A premium product at a premium price. Smart move by Hertz to target early adopters and create a price umbrella for lower-end customers at a future date.

If only this included parking, it would be a huge hit in New York City.

  • Right now, I pay between $400 to $500 a month to rent a vehicle for four or five days. I don't need a car beyond that, since I travel the rest of the time. Add $40 for Ubering back and forth to the rental. Based on that, these prices aren't bad.

Hertz stock price reflects their willingness to shake
