Blockchain is a key answer to the obvious concern of further election tampering. But many questions remain, including voter verification, digital combatants who use tech for voter suppression; access to smartphones (remember most smartphones sold are under $200), etc.

But the real conversation should be if we want convenience in our civic process. This isn’t Amazon Prime. This is the truest experience of our democracy. What values are we teaching our youth when they can vote while ordering Uber eats and posting a voting selfie on Instagram?

Anything to secure voting and raise participation will not be supported by Sen Mitch McConnell, as evidenced repeatedly. The Republican Party has been attacking voting rights with false fraud charges for decades. Unless voters mobilize, things can't change

Using distributed ledger technologies for voting, not only political elections, but also for interactive surveys, or sentiment analysis has been both disgusting used for decades. The application of voting over a smartphone is really not much different than whether people like a comment or a photo. A like is also a vote. The encryption and the securitization of the process end to end and that data lineage is what creates value. Looking forward to following this.

Haven’t read the article, just stunned by the audacity of it all. But then I had the same basic block re: how to validate verify monitor yadda as part of a much more comprehensive telling America how to run itself immediately has two very different base attitude assumptions when that qualifer is “In Any Way An American?” Is a far bigger hurdle than any flavour of not in any way snubbing (in this macro) America, just also much more sympathetic to the quiter, Not everything is life or death and thank

They’re always REALLY STUPID REASONS though, which makes it more offensive. You’re actually searching around for a reason or next best thing to use to say guns are more important to us than your children. (Obviously no parent would parse that down to your own children in that context, but only a total waste of a perfectly good... you know what I mean since obviously neither apply Trump hits the my children’ level of I am specifically phrasing this in dead children and making these pathetically transparent any rhetoric in a foxhole means you hit your children and didn’t immediately reflexively expand to recognize every parent’s child is as precious to them... and after that first slip you dug in and got retardedly savage since on some level you were presented with human life as whatever you were arguing against with a different label so even harder when you already don’t give a shit so once you ‘killed humanity’ (as in worked against whatever it was presenting now) actually does do some serious damage under the surface. Just take my word for it and leave it alone as I am allowed to be wrong stupid whatever, just don’t come looking for an argument because the notion of being sensitive to human misery offends you. Because if you do? That is the and only reason no matter how much something about me may be just itching you... it’s still just words, and if you really must I promise to show up anywhere specifically removed from this.

  • This should be a long-term goal of modern democracies. Secure, easy voting will be sure to increase civic participation. Need to be careful with this, though, and be sure the process is completely secure and verifiable. Wouldn’t look to mainstream this method of voting for at least another 8 years, maybe more

  • Yes. Yes, and yes.

Everyone who votes has a SSN, an address and many ways to confirm its them. With GPS tracking and merging of all data lakes this is the future of voting.

This will change politics for ever.

  • Could be a huge benefit to get out the vote

The whole idea is predicted on the voting population having the technology and more importantly trusting it. I am struggling to see such tech taking off unless facial recognition as key part of the identity is deeply rooted in mobile users behaviour and its benefits are not being questioned. Watching with some interest though.
