People are sick of drinking. Investors are betting on the “sober curious.”

Getaway in Brooklyn was comfortably full for a Saturday night, when I came in to try my first "shrub" — an acidic beverage made from vinegar, fruit, sugar, club soda and zero alcoholRead full story

As an owner of a craft brewery, I find that more and more people prefer to drinks smaller quantities of higher quality beverages.

For example, US beer consumption is down 10%+ per capita since 2000. That works out to 30 less bottles per person per year.

Within the beer category, sales of Bud Lite have

plummet by almost 20% in the last few years alone.

Meatless startups step aside for sober ones. New investment moving into social sobriety, from dry clubs to non-alcoholic drinks. My favorite is ‘Liquid Death’ which is water in a tallboy can. A former Netflix executive received funding from tech notables like Dollar Shave Club's Michael Dubin; Twitter cofounder Biz Stone; and Away cofounder Jen Rubio. Get sober. Get rich?

  • We recently won the Stone Cold Sober award for the 25th or 26th year at my University. Nobody drinks, women aren't taken advantage of, and nobody does stupid stuff, because of alcohol. The party life is replaced with more creative events and an awesome, respectful culture.

Students here are some of the best and genuine students you'll ever meet. Being sober is great! It's definitely worth investing in or trying.

I'm all for the push towards non alcoholic products into mainstream society. Every successful consumer product startup is all about community, so if we get more people excited about substituting alcohol out, I'm all for it.

Leave it to tech and startup wonks to see water and simple non-alcoholic ingredients as too boring compared to Gooped-out/Soylent-ed out "adaptogens" and "nootropics" and "water in a can." The trend of avoiding alcohol extends beyond the Silicon Valkey bubble, but you wouldn't know it from looking at these folks quoted. Amazing how something so simple can always be turned into something so needlessly complex and out of touch. Even worse, these are the companies getting investment compared to startups

Amazing how something so simple can always be turned into something so needlessly complex and out of touch. Even worse, these are the companies getting investment compared to startups from business owners who are still tied to communities. Not to mention that loss of sales by national brands doesn't denote lack of interest in alcoholic beverages, as there is an increase in people buying local from micro- and craft breweries and wine shops.

PLEASE! I find alcohol generally gross and would love to have some options besides club soda and like when I'm out with friends. I am so grateful to bars and restaurants that invest in crafted non-alcoholic drinks.

There are plenty of alternatives to alcohol. In NY at least the selection is varied and exciting and doesn't require alcohol or sugar or synthetics. Most decent restaurants already have more than seltzer. And for those of us who are fans of NY tap water it is also readily available.

I grew up in a dry world and never felt I missed anything. Contracts with the full band width of sober mind generally works better. The details are more sharply drawn, the nuance of what is important in clearer focus. So what is wrong with that. I have watched relationship crumble because the subtle needs are missed because someone is just out of focus. The cost is high the death of love killed by a thousand paper cuts. Occasional moments of celebration and quiet down time seem ok but it is every where all the time. With a high human cost. Learning to manage with out assistance is a skill. These may be the side effect of a more sober life.

The culture of drink buddying needs to decrease in business circles for this to actually take off. Too many deals are made this way to be accepted in business circles; unless of course sobriety comes from the position of leverage.

  • The detox to retox days are running short and I am happy about that. It feels good to be cognizant and I appreciate that this is the movement we are participating in. The larger picture is people are no longer running away from something. The choice not to drink and live in your own skin - happily is a massively positive step forward in our culture. This idea shows self acceptance, self love and is positive all around.

It was packed with everything a dying man needed to be revived. Most Brewers filter all the good stuff out so there is no nutritional benefit. So, there is plenty of ideas just need our govt reps to move out of the way.
