  • Timely topic as Facebook’s Libra just launched. I would like to go back to the article series to catch up. I also like conference call format as an entry point to learn this subject.

The Chinese tech giant have given its customers integrated solutions. This could be done because they started late and could set up the infrastructure to model such services into their offerings. This works really well for China because they started off like that there.

However, in countries like US, the services are individually quite big on its own like Facebook is social network and nothing to offer to a shopper (yes, ads but I don't care about that) or Amazon which has the whole market offering but not social connectivity integration. So do these biggies try and do that now? I don't think so. Different model altogether.

Now, these Chinese giants, when they go out with these solution to different country, will have to face these same challenges. Like Ant financials investment in Paytm in India, it's just a payment solution with a e-commerce in the back end and the e-commerce is not even popular if you compare it with Amazon or Flipkart in India.

So Ant Financials has become too big in China but what that means for rest of the world depends on what their strategy would be reaching out to the rest of the world.
