Meanwhile, in the UK friends and family tell me it's business as usual with people commuting and interacting as before, especially in that favourite British institution the Pub. While the natural reaction seems to be "have a drink and wait for this all to blow over" - typified by the movie Sean of the Dead - the Italy experience suggests this is certainly not an ideal response.
