The irony is that her daughter doesn't even need a college education. If all she wants to do is pursue acting, her parents' connections will be far more valuable than anything she will ever learn in college. Trading on family connections is expected in Hollywood but using family connections to game college admissions is a no-no.

  • “If [her plea bargain] is approved, Huffman would tutor young people...”. What on earth would she tutor them on? Entitlement issues and the Hollywood way? Knowingly committing a crime and attempting to hide it?

I kinda liked the idea of giving her jail time. That would surely deter future would-be SAT scammers.

  • If there is no jail time people will probably see this as an example of separate treatment for the rich. The real crime are the unknown students who don't cheat but have lost opportunities. We don't know but some lives may have been seriously set back. A month in jail is hardly sufficient and won't discourage others.

  • “I honestly didn’t and don’t care about my daughter going to a prestigious college,” she wrote. “I just wanted to give her a shot at being considered for a program where her acting talent would be the deciding factor.”

Yeah. Her last name is the leg up for ACTING school. Your best friend is David Mamet

Yeah. Her last name is the leg up for ACTING school. Your best friend is David Mamet. Your husband is none other than William H. Macy. A fair shot was never on the table before the criminal act. I’m honestly surprised she only had to pay 15k while you’ve got other families who formed over 10-30x the amount.

At least she pleaded guilty and admitted to it. Unlike Becky Tanner.

    Enough.

  • The sense of entitlement makes me angry. Huffman’s daughter didn’t need college for an acting career. The family connections would open lots of doors anyway. She should get jail time - more than a slap on the wrist, and not community service that her lawyer suggests. That is a joke.
