Politics is not a protection offered under law but race and sex are, so it is the “white” and “male” that matter. Rather like Trump may ultimately create a better America by exposing the worst of our national character, this lawsuit may create a better tech culture by showing just how white and male we actually already are. Let there be no confusion: while individual white men may face

Politics is not a protection offered under law but race and sex are, so it is the “white” and “male” that matter. Rather like Trump may ultimately create a better America by exposing the worst of our national character, this lawsuit may create a better tech culture by showing just how white and male we actually already are. Let there be no confusion: while individual white men may face illegal discrimination, white men (including me) remain the most privileged class in the history of humankind. This lawsuit should show that.

  • Given Google’s tremendous financial and legal resources, I don’t expect this to be much of a problem for them.

  • I doubt that this case is much of an issue but history tells you that culture is systemic. Eg the banks did things wrong for years and years and it has taken at least a decade so far to try and fix up the balance sheets and clean up the mis-selling mess. I suspect that Google and Facebooks culture over the past decade will exact a price on shareholders. Their contempt towards publishers and compliance standards have been found wanting and I think we will continue many cases brought against them for
