Weinstein Co. said it will file for bankruptcy after the troubled studio founded by Harvey Weinstein ended talks to sell the company outside of Chapter 11 to a group led by businesswoman Maria Contreras-Sweet and billionaire Ron Burkle

    I do appreciate the idea that Ms. Contreras-Sweet could have purchase the company and turn it into a symbol of the progress made in just the short time since the revelations came to light. From a business perspective, I understand

From a business perspective, I understand her decision not to. Even a distressed asset fund wouldn’t pick this up at a discount.

    It is a sad ending for the employees and those that were not connected to Mr. Weinstein’s untoward behavior and highlights the peril of building a company around a name and an individual.

  • A brand surrounded by toxicity in name. I am sorry for those that were innocent, but attached to the name brand, but I could see no other proper ending for a product of such a horrible man.
