This is one of those articles that I had to read until the very end to find tranquility and closure. I just wasn’t fully buying into the potentiality of DAC being the one-stop-shop, save the world solution. On the other hand, as suggested at the very end of the piece, DAC could be a significant piece of an overall climate change strategy. Sounds good to me. Still, as the author rightly predicts, I’m a bit skeptical about storing the CO2 underground. It’s hard to see how we don’t screw that up and hurt a lot of people. The tech seems promising and I’m willing to learn more about it. What other choice do have we? And, since this is an article from the Daily Beast, I see no reason not to interject partisan politics into the discussion. I sincerely hope the President and our impressively paranoid EPA Secretary Scott Pruitt don’t get wind of the DAC phenomenon. Hell bent on proving climate change a Chinese hoax for political reasons, the Administration might just engage in an anti-DAC credibility campaign. Fortunately, Trump is far more preoccupied with the contents of Michael Cohen’s office at the moment and Pruitt is far more concerned about deep state political moles eavesdropping on his personal phone conversations with energy lobbyists and aliens from the planet Endar. They’re too busy to further screw up the atmosphere.
