However, our female director's claims to fame include shows that I avoided due to their crude sexual nature. Star Trek was originally staunch with innuendo do it's expected here as well. I just hope she doesn't push it too far.

I suppose this is another situation in which we should say "we shall see" and hope for the best. Star Trek deserves a major win with the success seen by Star Wars in recent years.

However, I will admit I was initially annoyed that Thor is venturing off into another nerd world.

  • I think it is awesome that the Star Trek franchise has finally gotten its first female director. Star Trek has always gone where no one has gone before, so it's about time that they caught up with the times. I've always like the series and movies because of the aspect and now they have gained more of my respect. I just wish they had done it a little sooner. time will tell though we will have to see how she does. anyoneone that is a true fan will be looking forward to the new installment, fingers crossed it won't be a disappointment.

  • I love to read about a female director taking part in such a male dominated franchise! I can’t wait to see the film!

  • So great to finally see more women directors for larger films. It shows that we may be able to get more women in large studio positions that have been dominated by men. I know that when I have asked for consideration for higher positions in my perm company I'm not surprised when out goes to man instead

I know that when I have asked for consideration for higher positions in my perm company I'm not surprised when out goes to man instead. I was so glad when I got pregnant but I knew it was going to harder to move up in my company because the mentality is that women can't juggle family and home. Either one or the other has to suffer. That's so hard and unfair we should be able to have both. I read about the Congress women who passed a law allowing children on the house floor so she could return to work with her baby and be able to breastfeed. I hope that as women make it in these higher role we normalize the idea that the women can be successful without giving up on her family.

  • Okay besides the fact that I have no idea which Chris they're taking about (they're essentially interchangeable), I love this idea. Jessica Jones and Orange Is The New Black are game changers in TV telling. I do have some lingering questions:

    1) Will this be story be consistent with the alternate universe

    1) Will this be story be consistent with the alternate universe premise that JJ Abrams (another favorite of mine) introduced? Or will they do in a different direction?

    2) Will she bring the same kind of character-driven drama to the performances as she did in JJ and OITNB?

    3) Less of a question, more of a comment--Dexter is RIDICULOUS and I'm glad I finally get to see who the woman responsibe is.
