I wouldn’t count Tesla out anytime soon. Yes, the company is spending $6500 per minute. Yes, it’s top heavy with employees it really can’t afford. But, like the article says, there’s Elon Musk. He just defies financial gravity. $854 million in customer deposits.....for cars they don’t have yet....of which they have no idea when they’re getting. $20,000 and $50,000 deposits on individual cars. Who does that? People who believe in Elon Musk do that. There are entrepreneurs who live every aspect of their lives differently. They are CEO’s but they’re really not corporate grunts. Think Elon Musk, Steve Jobs and Richard Branson. They simply don’t see limits and they simply don’t concern themselves with the impossible....especially when it comes to money. Tesla isn’t going anywhere this year whether they raise $2 billion or not. We all want a Tesla because we all want some of what leaders like these have. The starkest contrast we have to this type of thinking is illustrated in our politics. President Trump despises another visionary business leader, Jeff Bezos of Amazon. Bezos lives the same outer worldly success space as does Elon Musk. Trump so disdains Bezos because he so desperately wants to be him. Rational people buy stuff from Amazon, just like Tesla customers buy cars from Musk, to try to tap into the well of genius. Irrational people like Trump desperately try (and fail) to destroy people like Bezos because Trump knows he’s incapable of ever achieving the genius.
