  • My husband who “watches lots of football” says he isn’t going to be able to anymore. Who else is giving up watching? Viewers hold the real power here.

  • The creativity of protestors will always outmatch clumsy attempts to stifle free speech through “policies.” I fully expect the players to find a new way to make their point by the time the new season begins. At the same time, lots of people will be put off by the NFL’s actions which feel patently unAmerican

Personally I gave up watching NFL about five years ago. This, after being a huge NY Jets fan that traveled the country to watch them play for decades. Reasons being, Jets Owner Woody Wilson’s claim that it was “more important for Mitt Romney to win the presidency than for the Jets to win games.” 2nd reason, he hired religious Fanatic Tim Teabow to hover over QB Mark Sanchez’s shoulder praying for him to screw up so he could take his job. 3rd reason and the one that broke it for me was when they hired dog killer Mike Vick. That was it, I was done. Well, now I read the Jets Owner is going to pay fines of players that defy this seriously unconstitutional ban on kneeling. Must be a different Owner? And, I am going to start watching the Jets again on TV at least. If they are winning? Who knows? I might even start traveling to games again.
