It is looking like a monopolized system, but excited for it to be legal. The major legal producers not only get the initial market, but they are also getting the licensing options from non-Canada LP brands. US brands heading to Canada since our Federal Government lagging, so to have a completely legal and licensed product they are jumping into licensing agreements with the big Canada LPs now. This means the major LPs have full market dominance for their own brands and now collecting all licenses for brands in the country and out. Also with areas like Ontario that will only offer distribution through the LCBO dispensary (The Cannabis Store) will kill the free market further. So excited to see it go legal, but it won’t be anything like the US market once legalization happens federally in the US. A free market will always result in the best products, so hopefully one day Canada will have a free market in all areas of the cannabis industry.

  • So if you legally buy marijuana in Vancouver, BC, Canada and then drive to Seattle, WA, where it’s also legal, you will be arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.

  • Tomorrow Canada is expected to effectively become the first G20 country to legalize marijuana.

  • Canada is paving the way again by showing that minimal government interference in people's choice of recreation is the best way forward both culturally and economically.

  • My concern is the effect on the morale and motivation of young men. Will this fuel the growth of the lumpen-proletariat?

  • I imagine there will be a positive impact on tourism and economically. Maybe more Americans travel to Canada for vacation?

Marijuana legalization in Canada is another example why our neighbors to the north are way ahead of the U.S. in terms of mature, managed initiatives like universal health care, limited gun violence and national stewardship

of natural resources. Marijuana has a host of verified medicinal benefits that America’s national government fails to recognize. As a result, one nation offers legal relief for long-suffering patients who will be helped by availability of THC—marijuana’s organic spark plug—while a bordering nation, stuck is some insidious 20th Century time warp, prefers to lock up marijuana users and incite racial animus against people of different skin tones who cultivate it south of the American border. Congratulations to the people of Canada.

  • Idiots.

  • Is pot a gate way to opioids? I have thought not be we shall see for certain in just a few years for sure.

  • Can’t wait to read more about it
