People in the US have a hard time with this, but Kim Jong Un's main goal in the talks is probably not to own Trump. He's not your #resistance bae. He wants to secure his regime against the US and China, so don't expect him to leave Trump totally in the cold.

It's uncommon these days to see China on the outside looking in on anything, but that's kind of what's happening with the talks. Xi and Kim have met several times recently, but China has no seat at the table for the summit.

Remember what China did in the 1970s during the Nixon-Mao talks—when it decided to ditch its longtime ally Russia and embrace a new relationship with the US? Is Kim planning to make a similar move?

I hope something good comes out of this. For the sake of the North Korean people.

Has there ever been two world leaders that needed more therapy?! And was I calling Kim Jong Un a world leader before Trump pulled him up onto the American stage?

Think about the last 72 hours. Arrive late for G7, advocate for Russia to be allowed back in. Leave G7 early and diss longtime allies, including a blistering attack on neighboring Canada, refusal to sign the communique.

Next up: a warm and friendly meeting with a dictator who rubbed our his uncle and half brother and whose nation lives in abject poverty with little to no human rights.

A united Korea as a strategic Asian ally would dramatically expand US influence. Let's think outside the box and propose to move troops into N. Korea.

Well that’s further than all other presidents have gotten. If you’re rooting against better relations because you don’t like someone then I really hope you can take a step back a realize it’s ok to hope for good things for the world.

Basically everything has already been agreed below the surface?? We’ll see what Kim will request in return for denuclearization.

It’s difficult to watch the leftist pundits fall all over themselves making excuses as to why Trump is being fooled or why he has nothing to do with this “good fortune.” Be happy for world peace, realize that negotiations of this scale take time, and stop spitting on the process before you know the outcome.

We can all be glad this is happening with DT in office and not BO or HRC. Pres. Trump will come away cautious of KJU no matter what the outcome of the meeting. BO and HRC would have given away the house and then run to the cameras to declare success. KJU won't change and can't be trusted.

It's the "giant leap"although the meeting was just small step toward the settlement.

President Trump's langugage sounds very ugly oftentimes that we need condemn eventually, but I saw he suited the words to the actual action and made it happen this time.

  • Remember, Kim wants to remain in absolute power but he’s desperate for money due to sanctions. Once he achieves money and guarantees from Trump, all other deals are off.
