  • Just a decade or so ago, taking a gap year before or during college would be seen as a “no no”. Now it’s very acceptable. I do think exploring the world and different cultures early is a great way to expand your world view and experiences. With technologies and gig economy, you can almost work anywhere to create such lifestyle.

  • Excellent! And no doubt she’ll be much more world-minded than most young adults; few experience cultures outside of their own without travel.

My daughter caught the travel bug, studying abroad in the summers as an undergrad; took her first job teaching English in China for a year; then because the money exchange was poor, she used the proceeds to travel all around remote parts of China, Vietnam, and Laos. She came back with an open heart and mind, earned her masters in order to gain execellent employment

  • I guess that’s how millenials are. They are more adventurous and take risks in life and enjoying every minute of what life has to offer. This is a great way to reward yourself from all the hard work you’ve gone through in uni. Taking a little break from everything, traveling and experiencing the world will refresh your mind and give you a new outlook in life that will motivate you to reach your goals for your future.

  • Blech- hate her perfectness.
