Samsung said that pre-orders of the Galaxy Note 8 reached 650,000 over a five-day period, more than any other phone in the Note series, which first launched six years ago.

It should also scare Apple, as both the Note 8 and the iPhone X are premium phones, expected to compete during the holiday season.

Both have big screens, many high-tech features, and sell for high prices. The Note 8 costs $929, while the iPhone X costs $999.
