Indians will soon find it harder to get a work visa in Australia
Indians hold the most visas within Australia’s program for skilled foreign workers, representing 19,360 of the 97,770 primary visa holders.
But Australia is shutting down that visa program and installing a stricter one instead, which means less opportunities for Indian workers.
Currently, Australia allows companies to sponsor a visa for skilled foreign workers, who can then stay in the country for four years.
Beginning early next year, the new program will require a company to try to find an Australian person for the position it wants to fill before looking for foreign workers.
