Indians will soon find it harder to get a work visa in Australia

But Australia is shutting down that visa program and installing a stricter one instead, which means less opportunities for Indian workers.

Currently, Australia allows companies to sponsor a visa for skilled foreign workers, who can then stay in the country for four years.

Beginning early next year, the new program will require a company to try to find an Australian person for the position it wants to fill before looking for foreign workers.

Australia will also decrease the number of professions covered by the visa and will make English language requirements more difficult.
