For many elected officials, their number one priority is to get re-elected. The top way to get re-elected is to raise a lot of money for your campaign. The easiest way to raise a lot of money is to accept large donations from interest groups, such as the NRA, in exchange for your vote. One way to end this cycle is to place term limits on members of Congress. Only problem is, this would require an amendment passed by...congress.
