The most interesting thing about this discovery is not only that life could be possible, but the thought that life has already run its course there and was wiped out. If we find no signs of life on Mars today, that doesn’t mean that there never was life, nor that nothing could ever begin to evolve there in the future. We should be looking for the potential and thinking about what that means to us, and what a humbling thought it is.
