  • I personally always tip 20%. But I also have to say I think tipping is a silly custom. In Europe, waiters get paid more and therefore don’t have to rely on tips. I have never received bad service so the argument that we would get bad service without tipping is absurd.

    I personally always tip 20%. But I also have to say I think tipping is a silly custom. In Europe, waiters get paid more and therefore don’t have to rely on tips. I have never received bad service so the argument that we would get bad service without tipping is absurd.

    In America, the franchises we eat at should be paying a livable wage to their staff. It is not our responsibility to make up the difference so they can live decently. That’s the employer’s responsibility to pay their staff decently.

    Also, tipping service industries can get confusing. When do we tip and when do we not? I provide a Photography service but I never get a tip. Where is the line drawn?
