As someone who grew up eating plain slices in hole in the wall pizzerias, I appreciate the authenticity of these cultural institutions. The reality is gentrification and the wave of hipsterdom has taken urban cities by storm. Los Angeles is a not a restaurant town but a food town. Great places exist in so many strip malls and yes even more fancy establishments. These east coast transplants though are now part of the growth. As a recent transplant to LA, great pizza is scarce and so I would gladly make a trip to dine on a bee sting. It’s funny how the article just gives a small mention on the actual pizza. Maybe that’s why people should go? Just a thought, but don’t scandalize an idea of a place that is part of a larger food movement in shopping developments. That is just the way things are here. It’s not Bushwick! There’s also a Grimaldi’s in El Segundo you can write about.
