1.3 million more jobs than unemployed people mean there are lots of jobs to choose from at more competitive wages.
Whether you take a second job or a different job the choice is yours. Don't blame the economy.
Do your part. Lead by example. Renounce your comfortable modern life and live like you're asking 3rd world/developing nations to continue to live. If enough of you do that "we've got a chance." However, that will mean getting rid of your iPhones.
