I have done a bit of consulting regarding the “experience” design of hospitals, pharmacies and the Dr’s office.

My expertise is human factors issues regarding system and the environment and how humans use or experience them.

Technology could very well help to solve much of the disheveled qualities of our current system but before we try and fail we need to fix a fundamental folly built into the current system.....

We need the user (patient) to have a direct financial relationship, of responsibility, with the service provider wether it be Dr, hospital or pharmacy.

Patients must strategize, budget and directly pay for the services they receive then the complexity of the system will iron out to an easy to navigate competent and affordable system.

Insurers should pay the patient directly and the patient pay the service provider. If you make that one simple change the system will right itself and be fine within 5 years or less.

Were is my evidence you ask?

Cosmetic medicine! It’s a cash only business...

A face lift or boob job etc. is less than $10k were as any other surgery with similar complexity within the traditional system is triple or more that amount.

Free market competition is only possible when customer (patient) and provider have a direct financial relationship. All aid/funding from government or insurer should be paid to the patient and the patient t pay the provider.
