  • Forget anything about these laws being touted at legislation on "banning addictive behaviors" in society as effective lawmaking. I'll just sit down here and smoke another cigarette while I peruse more articles.

  • Stress is a terrible thing and can be difficult to manage. My doctor told me once that one thing to remember is that "even Good stress (satisfying but high/ fast-paced career, for example) is still Stress". That hit home with me.

  • The problem is, and I can't believe I've not seen anyone discuss this, is that while remoting, flex hours and leniency from the power-that-be are all well & good and that most employees respectfully handle these freedoms, you are ALWAYS going to have "that guy" who handles it improperly and takes advantage

The problem is, and I can't believe I've not seen anyone discuss this, is that while remoting, flex hours and leniency from the power-that-be are all well & good and that most employees respectfully handle these freedoms, you are ALWAYS going to have "that guy" who handles it improperly and takes advantage of any and everything they can. I would bet more than likely that of a large portion of the notes or calendar entries, many are placed there by folks who feel that regardless of anything, the need to "cover their ass" is mandatory, spoken or not. A SCHEDULE is called A SCHEDULE for a reason and depending on the job, industry, type of work, etc. it is a valuable tool to run business. If the time an employee is needed is not tied to particular structure, then these freedoms discussed should be 100% clear on day one, no exceptions. However as managers, you cannot create an atmosphere of freedoms without the inherent responsibility of everything attached to that atmosphere. HENCE the word "manager" in a job title.

I despise the term millennial, and could give two shakes if you're 23 or 63. Here's the job expectation, the way I expect it to be done, and you get paid every two weeks if you do it successfully. Any questions? And please remove the Teddy Ruxpin bear from your desk, it's not nursery time.

It is simple without managerial complaint of doing your OWN job, if management. "Inspect what you EXPECT"

  • Meanwhile, some people are out enjoying the sunshine, nature, their children, each other and living life... I "get it", but to be completely honest I don't care if my digital assistant is male or female voiced. "Deciding" that the influence of AI tonality is what is going to shape future generations is scarier than Skynet.

  • Self check out kiosks are the equivalent of VCR's for many elderly or a rotary dial phone for millennials - meaning if you have trouble using it, then just don't use it and go by the tried and true method of a regular checker and let those who enjoy it's benefits continue on doing so. There self check

There self check was ABSOLUTELY designed with customer satisfaction in mind as well as customer flow within a store's traffic. I'm still amazed at things people choose to be bothered by....

One reason for this unprecedented growth and activity of this age range discussed is that the average mid-50's person is not the same person in the workplace that our parents were. We have seen that the possibilities to do what we wish with our time, whether the NEED to work is there or not, is completely up to us. We are no longer tied to 30-year stays at one employer and that our creative energy can be made to work FOR us - often better than our younger counterparts. Diversifying one's talents can lead to many satisfying roads regardless of the age number attached, but it will show that the experiences and lives led in other roles in our youth give great benefit to skill sets, capabilities and seeing new ideas through to fruition, and not nearly willing to "give up" easily as younger folks may be more apt to do.

The key to surpassing the pitfalls of inherent AI bias is finding system programmers who are good enough to train AI into recognizing it's happening. A true underlying "lookahead" that then tricks AI into not falling into those patterns. As pointed out already, since human programming is the root to creating AI, I'm not sure this will ever be possible without handing the keys over to Skylab.
