Yes, but someone went “skint” for us, so we can exist and then reject the idea of becoming “skint”. We plan for retirement and save for it so we won’t be “skint” retirees”. We plan for vacations and save for it for likewise purposes, we plan for our business and budget for it as well for the same reasons. We know that unless some drastic measures are taken we will all end up as parents at one time or another. Therefore, why is it that knowing that and knowing how much it costs for our own selves to live, why is it that we don’t plan and don’t save for the “time of children”, since we will have 18 years raising them? a time for which we are responsible for their care, their daily living expenses, their entertainment and their education.

Yes, we see a lot of people financial planning for their children’s college education, but that is a plan for their education only, and only a plan they begin AFTER they have children, not before. Therefore, after children are born their living expenses double and sometimes triple or even quadruple depending on the child’s health or special needs (just as a business that doesn’t

hoas expected). And then yes, parents do go “skint”, but that has nothing to do with the fact that hey have have children; the fault is traced to the parents, who, embarked in the parent journey without being prepared ahead of lime. They ignored the obvious. They ignored to investigate the facts well ahead of time and they failed to financial-plan for it. Obviously we are not taking an-out planning to save millions to spoil a child when he/she is born. We are speaking of saving ahead of time to be able to give adequately to that child what he/she needs without making yourself poor or deprived.

And yet, even without this planning, in reality there aren’t many parents who went broke because they had children. Yes, parents who didn’t man ahead may have to curtail a luxury here or there or go on less vacations because they did not financially/plan for a child’s living expenses, but none of them, at least not in the US and Europe, none of them starve—whereas many people do go broke even without having children.

A simple savings account where one can save as little as $20 every paycheck, more if they can afford it, saving ahead of time in case they may have children in the future, would solve the “skint” problem and take away at least most, if not all, the financial stress of raising a child. It is a wonder we as a society, don’t think of this before hand. We, financial-plan for a dream wedding even if we don’t have a marriage prospect; we financial-plan for a funeral even if we have no idea when we will die; we buy huge amounts of life insurance, even when the cost of dying is in reality free (because we also financial-plan for our funeral, and health insurance takes care of hospital bills) Do the question why we don’t financial-plan for children’s living expenses is a mystery.

The answer to this mystery lies on the fact that before having children, most people don’t want to have them, and therefore they even thinking about how much money it takes to raise a child. Honestly, ask any single childless person how much does a package if diapers cost? or how much does one can of formula cost? Then ask then how many of those items does an infant child needs a week? It is likely that none if those you ask that question yo knows the answer, and once they find out, immediately their reasoning goes to the “I am not going to have any children“. But we all know what happens later either by their free will or not, whether they want it or not, children are born to most of those who swear they will never have them. And so the truth is, human nature is, we rarely, or never financial-plan for that which we don’t want, or don’t like, or hope it will never happen to us. We only financial-plan for death expenses because that is a sure thing, and we know it, but not because we want it. And since children can be a choice to have or not to have, there are those who choose not to have them and then accidentally have them! In either case, the reality is that there a mental block about this that somehow does not allow people in general, married or single to plan and to save for the living expenses of their future children. This should be a must mentality just as the rich and the poor are taught to prepare and to save for the future.

  • Yes, I totally agree with you both. • Wonderful, they saying, “in the future”, is finally here! This world will become such a wonderful

place as we will be freed to pursue our dreams, study technology, and pursue new inventions, instead of being stuck some tedious job.

  • It is about time something is done about this. And have you seen how abusive the education system is? Not even a President of the largest corporation is asked to show even 1000th of the credentials

or is asked as many questions as an elementary school teacher is asked when filling out an application

or is asked as many questions as an elementary school teacher is asked when filling out an application for an elementary school job for meager, below poverty level, salary such as that the school system pays to school teachers in Idaho; but it is like this all over the country. oh, and they they come

arou d with the 3 months vacation thing, saying that teachers can then work other jobs i. the Summer and earn more money. Since when ALL teachers are able to get Summer jobs during Summer vacation? 99% of them din’t—and even less do now because of a deflated economy. If long Summer vacation is the ha g up for not paying enough, then turn schools i to the same

year around schedule as colleges and pay the teachers what they are worth. They will still

get a vacation as anyone else and get paid comparable salaries as everyone else. It seems

that the people who choose to serve in this capacity, the noblest profession one can ever choose, gets penalized for doing so. This is the shame of the Earth, the most prosperous and most advanced nation on Earth, making slaves out if the legs it stands on. This is despicable.

My husband worked in the Office for 15 years and was a respected top players in the company. within 2 years of working remote and doing even more work for them from home, they began expressing nothing but mistrust and dissatisfaction with his performance, and after 17 years with the company when lay offs came around, they never even looked twice at the many hours he had given them for free and the many times he saved their company from serious problems, but they let him go without even a month of saver pay, and when he asked for a letter of recommendation for another job, they promised it but never sent it. NO, I have nothing but negative to say about working remote. You can only work remote and have a secure job, if you own the company.

  • Since when do all female astronauts need to do an all-female space walk? Space walks should be done by men and women as it is needed, not to make a point or support agendas,

and not to satisfy curiosity or make a statement. We all need to get off this gender statement trip, if we were to really have equality.

I’ve been fascinated with airlines grooming for males and females since I was a child. To me it was an inspiration, a symbol that represents being extraordinary, and I always enjoyed the classic, not extravagant nor psychedelic beauty I observed in airline stewards and stewardesses grooming and manners. To me it was a representation of extraordinary men and women, especially women, it represented class and professionalism. It was their class, their manners, and beautiful grooming that inspired me, at a young age, to dream of being better than the ordinary, to get an education and soar to higher hights. It inspired me to desire to travel, to see the world, to seek a business profession, to become an independent woman, and the inspiration airline stewardesses grooming gave me hope that if I followed their example I could achieve in any career as well. The world today, promotes the ordinary expecting extraordinary results. No one will ever motivate or inspire anyone by lowering to the ordinary level. And although I believe the stewardesses should not be forced to wear make up, they need to know that millions of little girls like me who fly with them do look and do notice their extraordinary class, manners, and beauty and dream of jobs where they can fulfill their dreams by duplicating their lifestyle and good examples, and most of all look good like them. Lets be honest, since when a little girl wants to look like the girl covered in soot? Never! But all little girls want to be the beautiful princess Cinderella, and it is that dream that drives them to become independent professional women in the world of business or beautiful moms at home who teach their little little girls by their examples to go out and achieve and become

independent. So, for those who choose not to wear make up, that is their choice, and it is great,

but please keep in mind that class and hair and clothing grooming, can and still is the hallmark if the extraordinary. I would never force anyone to wear makeup because that is what I would like to see in addition to the other impeccable grooming of Virgin Atlantic, but I must say, to me it is a reflection not of sexism. but if professionalism and beauty, not of lack of respect for women, but of attraction of respect and high level of power to command respect, when needed. One can be just as pretty inside and strong inside, but in certain professions we only have brief encounters to make a positive first impression or to make an impact for good, and since less than 1% of us are psychics, those certain things must be visible, like it or not. Those who play life by these,

lets say, annoying or even worldly rules, are the one who are the true winners, like it ir not this is true in everything, even in motherhood. Even as babies, my children seemed to appreciate me

more when I made myself pretty for them, even to just to stay home. After all, what would we pick from the ground, an ugly rock or a shinny crystal?
