Illinois Institute of Technology, of all places, has a hidden treasure in its industrial psychology programs. They also run a testing service that includes things like Myers-Briggs but with little but curiosity findings. I went through their whole barrage of tests at one point. I was there because I wanted to be and I knew the players so had very low test anxiety. Hence I tested fast and was given extra tests. Others were there because they had been laid off or were otherwise out of a job.

My answers to all kinds of aptitude, interest, decision and perspective tests were correlated with data from test takers all over the country. I found my comparison to others on different career (or academic) paths to be the most meaningful data I got. An indication of what I was in for trying to adapt to different careers was also enlightening. The personality indexes? Not really much at all. The thing is the testing I did took a couple days---not 30 minutes.
