Roya Wolverson (@royawolverson) is a special correspondent at Quartz. She covers travel, airlines and the voracious global consumer. Roya previously worked at Time as the global business editor, helping to redesign and invigorate the magazine’s business section. Before that she was a reporter at Time, covering the eurozone crisis, global economics and consumer culture for its Curious Capitalist blog. In her wonkier days, she was a financial reporter at SmartMoney and the economics and Iran writer for the Council on Foreign Relations’s web publication, CFR.org, where she was the lead writer for an interactive guide on Iran that won an Emmy and an Interactive Media Award. Roya holds a Master’s degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School. She is a two-time Fulbright grantee (first to Mali, then to Germany) who wishes life were but a string of grants to foreign places.
