Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart expressed some harsh words for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump during an interview with David Axelrod for his Axe Files podcast, released Monday (May 10). But Democrats weren’t spared, either.

“He is a man-baby,” Stewart told Axelrod of Trump. “He has the physical countenance of a man and a baby’s temperament and hands … [Vanity Fair editor] Graydon Carter did a joke about Donald Trump’s hands 25 years ago, he’s still not f***ing over it.”

Stewart, who has rarely commented publicly on current affairs since leaving the Daily Show last year, also expressed the view that Trump’s ascendance is partly the result of political failure on the part of Democrats, who have held the White House for eight years.

“The door is open to an asshole like Donald Trump because the Democrats haven’t done enough to show to people that government that can be effective for people, can be efficient for people,” Stewart said. “If you can’t do that, then you’ve lost the right to make that change, and someone’s going to come in and demagogue you.”

He described Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton as “very bright woman without the courage of her convictions,” adding, “because I’m not even sure what they are.” But Stewart still considers her a preferential choice to Donald Trump. “At this point, I would vote for Mr. T over Donald Trump,” he said.
